The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree “On priority measures to protect the rights of children-orphans, children deprived of parental care and individuals from among them”. This is stated on the President’s page in Facebook.

The decree tasked with solving the issue of increasing the size of the state social help on children-orphans and children deprived of parental care who are brought up in foster families.

“The government is also requested to provide annually in the state budget expenditures for different types of housing for this population. Also determined the need to introduce these people cash compensation for the entitlement to receive living quarters and subventions from the state budget to local budgets for the payment of such compensation,” – said the President.

The foster family provides for the education of children left without parents, before the age of 18 or until graduation. The state must ensure the material maintenance of children, the methodical training of foster parents and help in the education of orphans, focused on the development and socialization of children.
