Poroshenko responded to the proposal to abandon Crimea for compensation

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the plenary session of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has expressed its strong disagreement with the statement that the question of supplies of Crimea can be considered closed.

“Tribune, PACE was not created for the calls to trade territories for money, oil or gas,” — said Poroshenko.

The day before, 10 October, Czech President Milos Zeman said in PACE that the dispute over Crimea in order to avoid war in Europe need to be addressed through the payment of the compensation for the lost territory.

According to Zeman, the annexation of Crimea to Russia, of course, was annexation, but now it is a fait accompli, that is a fait accompli, and the situation cannot be restored to its original condition .

Poroshenko refused to acknowledge the question of ownership of the Peninsula a fait accompli, noting that Ukraine “will never leave its citizens — neither in Crimea nor in Donbass, or in Russian prisons.”

“Moscow continues to blatantly close our eyes to our persistent calls on the international community’s calls to return to the international legal field”, — said Poroshenko. According to him, the goal of the Russian aggression is the destruction of democracy and the rights and freedoms of the individual.

On the eve of the first Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Irina Gerashchenko’s statement called Zeman “appalling in its cynicism”, and he himself — “anticapella”.

“Ukraine will not sell their citizens, territory, sovereignty, honor and dignity. It’s not for sale,” wrote Gerashchenko on his page in the network Facebook.

The same day foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, commenting on the words of Zeman, has expressed confidence that it is not correct and we must not fight with him. “In the theater there are Directors and there are actors. Those who invited him to the speech, knew what he would say. With them and must fight,” — wrote Klimkin in his Twitter.
