President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hopes that the Verkhovna Rada adopt on second reading bill No. 6232 on the settlement activities of the new Supreme Court in plenary the week of 19-22 September. This was reported by press Secretary of the President Svyatoslav Tsegolko on Twitter.

“Expect that next week BP will complete the judicial reform. We are not going to tolerate unjust proceedings, including for business”, – said Poroshenko during the meeting with representatives of Ukrainian and foreign business September 14.

20 Jun 2017 Rada adopted the bill No. 6232 on changes to the procedural codes in the first reading.

In June 2016 the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the judicial system and status of judges, as well as changes in the Constitution in terms of justice.

They canceled the procedure for the appointment of judges by the President for a term of five years. Also eliminated the higher specialized courts and the court of cassation is created, which guarantees the protection of the right to justice of the citizen of Ukraine. Provides for a gradual increase of the salary of judges to 30, 50 and 75 times the minimum wage depending on the level of the court.

On the night of 21 December 2016, the Parliament adopted the law on the establishment of the High Council of justice. This body is intended to replace the High Council of justice in judicial reform. A Board consisting of 21 members empowered to dismiss judges from office, to transfer them to another court, to consent to detention or arrest of a judge.

On the evening of 27 July 2017, the High qualification Commission of judges of Ukraine defined winners of competition for the 120 posts of judges of the new Supreme Court. The participants received vocational and psychological tests, examination of the National anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine, the National Agency for prevention of corruption and Public integrity Council.
