Madrid requires clarity from Catalonia and threatened to suspend self-government in the region

The Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy demanded that the Catalan leader to clarify the situation with the proclamation of independence of the region.

As informs Bi-bi-si, Rajoy accused Pokdemon in the deliberate confusion and stated that in order to take some concrete steps Spain should know “whether he proclaimed the independence of Catalonia”.

In case of the Declaration of independence of Spain may suspend self-government in the region in accordance with article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, said the Prime Minister.

The Carles Pujdeme signed a Declaration on the independence of Catalonia, however, called on the regional Parliament to postpone a Declaration of independence to establish a dialogue with Madrid on the question of secession from Spain.

A referendum on independence, which recognize neither the Spanish authorities nor the European Union took place on 1 October. 90 percent of the 2.3 million Catalans who voted were in favor of secession from Spain.
