Madrid rejected the Declaration of the independence of Catalonia

The Spanish government rejected the Declaration of the independence of Catalonia, signed the day before by the leader of the authority by Carles Pusdienam.

“Millions of people in Catalonia believe the only option to Catalonia became an independent state,” — said Pujdeme .

“We’re not criminals, we’re not crazy, we’re not a coup, we are normal people, who are asking to have the opportunity to vote. We have nothing against Spain and Spanish people”, — said the head of the Catalan government, referring to the Spanish authorities.

In Barcelona on Tuesday, were strengthened security measures. The territory of the Parliament of Catalonia and Park of the Citadel, in which it is located, was completely cordoned off by the Catalan police.

The mayor of Barcelona Hell Cola called Pokdemon and the Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, to “de-escalate the crisis.”

Earlier, the two largest EU countries — France and Germany — supported the unity of Spain and against the unilateral Declaration of independence of Catalonia.

On Saturday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a conversation with Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, as reported by her press Secretary, not only reiterated its support for the unity of Spain, but also called for dialogue between the warring parties.

France warned that it did not recognize Catalonia if the region unilaterally declared independence.

A referendum on independence, which recognize neither the Spanish authorities nor the European Union, and which before was frozen by the Constitutional court of the Kingdom, took place on 1 October.

90 percent of the 2.3 million Catalans who came to the unrecognized and denied Madrid a referendum, voted for secession from Spain. The turnout according to the Catalan authorities, was 43%.

About 900 people were injured as a result of the actions of the police who tried to prevent the vote. As a result of collisions of participants of the referendum and police officers injured, 33 of a custody order.

Later, the Spanish government of Catalonia has brought apology for the tough action of the police in the referendum, while accusing the Catalan government of illegal voting.
