In Jerusalem, a riot broke out

After the U.S. recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in the city the protests began

In the afternoon the walls of the Old city in Jerusalem riots broke out, writes the Israeli edition of Inn.co.il.

It is noted that in a skirmish with the police at the Damascus gate of the Old city in Jerusalem, attended by dozens of Arabs. On the border with Gaza Palestinians threw stones at border fence. In Hebron in the riots was attended by dozens of Palestinians.

It is noted that in East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria in recent days has increased the number of terrorist attacks. Protesters hurled stones and bottles with an incendiary mix. At the village of Rantis several machines threw stones. Victims of incidents were not.

On 6 December, the President of the United States Donald trump has officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announced the postponement of the U.S. Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the us President for this decision and stated that Israel will always ensure religious freedom for Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the recognition of the trump Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is tantamount to the failure of the US mediator in the peace talks. In 2014, he offered to make Jerusalem the shared capital of two States.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan initiated an emergency meeting of the leaders of the organization of Islamic cooperation.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of France Emmanuel macron and Prime Minister of great Britain, Theresa may, did not support the decision of trump.

The UN Security Council on 8 December will gather for a meeting at the request of eight States in connection with the decision of the President of the United States.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem after the 1967 war and considers the entire city its undivided capital. The international community does not recognize and insists that the city’s status should be determined in the course of the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks. The Palestinians, in turn, want to declare East Jerusalem the capital of their state.

The administrative capital of Israel is now in tel Aviv and the Palestinian authority based in Ramallah.
