Relatives of the accused in the possession of the head of the Chechen representative office of the human rights centre “memorial” Ouba Titieva left Chechnya, reported human rights defender’s lawyer Pyotr Zaikin, “Interfax”.

According to him, it was done for security purposes, “because the threats don’t stop”. Zaikin refused to say whether the relatives in Russia or left the country.

He added that the police are trying to get Titieva confessions, threatening to “cause trouble to the family.”

January 9, police stopped the car Titieva for inspection in the course of which withdrew from the salon “plastic package with substance of a phytogenesis with a specific smell marijuana, weighing about 180 grams.” The human rights activist was detained.

11 Jan Titiev was charged with possession of drugs on a large scale (part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal code). He was arrested for two months. In court Titiev said that a package of marijuana under the passenger seat of his car planted by the police.
