ENIN: the examination continues

The Prosecutor’s office ordered an economic assessment of the transactions of the company Investment Capital Ukraine (ICU), which may be involved in the withdrawal of Ukraine’s $1.5 bn of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage, said Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin January 12, in interview “to Gromadsky radio”.

He noted that the investigation against the company continues.

“A year ago we questioned the head of the company, we questioned the documents confirming the legality of the funds and financial transactions. So we more than two months ago sent a request for conducting an economic expert examination in one judicial expert institutions of Ukraine. Now the examination is ongoing,” he said.

ENIN added that the verdict of the court of Kramatorsk in Donetsk region on special confiscation was preceded by about 30 other sentences. He noted that more than 20 people were prosecuted. According to Enina, among them are high-level officials, e.g., Deputy Ministers of Yanukovych.

January 10, Al Jazeera and the “Ukrainian Pravda” published the secret of Kramatorsk district court decision on special confiscation of $1.5 billion Yanukovych and his entourage. ENIN said that the GPU can neither confirm nor deny the authenticity of the document.

The state financial monitoring service of Ukraine said that Yanukovych and his entourage could carry out illicit financial transactions associated with money laundering and other crimes, $199,4 billion.
